Young man kills and buries girlfriend in Lagos state

A 28 year-old man, Segun Titilayo, of Otolu town, Lekki LCDA of Lagos State was nabbed by the Lagos State Police Command for killing and burying the corpse of his girlfriend, one Oritoke Manni, 26, a Bar attendant at R.C. Hotel, Apakin Town, Lekki, who had been declared missing before by the police.

The spokesman for the police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, alleged that on the 13th of October, at about 11am, the deceased was asked by the suspect, Segun Titilayo, to visit him in his house, and that was the last anyone saw her alive. A case of missing person was recorded by the police on her behalf and information was routinely dispatched to other stations within the state for follow-up purposes.

However, the case took a new twist when on the 7th of November 2020, one engineer Adegbago David, of Adron House and Properties, reported to the police that his company’s Caterpillar excavating on their site exhume a decomposing human remain on the site. The police immediately swung into action and in no time, discovered the corpse to be that of the missing girl, Oritoke Manni. The corpse was evacuated to a public morgue for autopsy.

The police placed a manhunt on the suspect who in no time was apprehended. “He is presently in police custardy at the SCID Panti and giving useful information to help the police in its investigation.” Adejobi said. The mouthpiece of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, condemned the crime outright and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID, DCP, Yatunde Longe to leave no stone unturned in the ongoing investigation. The Commissioner cautioned the youths, especially ladies against fraternizing with unscrupulous and destructive friends. He urged Lagosians to promote moral virtues and shun crimes and all forms of criminality.
