Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Nigeria: pigeons released by Buhari refuse to fly – Nigerians react

15th of January every year is the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, a time of remembering our fallen heroes and the solidarity we share together as a nation.

The President usually presides over a colorful ceremony with the VP and other high raking government officials.

Another scene of glamour that surrounds the event is the military parade that culminates in the laying of wreath on the grave of  'Soldier'. Thereafter, the President releases pigeons from a cage into the air as symbol of freedom, peace and unity.

In today’s ceremony, the pigeons just refused to fly after they were released. That singular period is drawing the attention of many Nigerians who has been tweeting their reactions and giving their interpretations to the event.
