Famine is predicted by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state

Governor Samuel Ortom, Benue state spoke at Nigerian Union of Journalists correspondent chapels, Abuja. He says, "At least 24 out of 36 states of Nigeria now have serious farmers and herdsmen crisis involving killing. Without ranching laws, herdsmen may soon be at every doorstep and that will compromise farming and food security across the country.

"Herdsmen attacks on farmers will only end when open grazing is completely eliminated. Many countries in the world including Africa has embraced ranching".

He disclosed that no one has explanation for high rate of kidnapping but there are allegations that desperate politicians brought them in a bid to win election. He also said that the high rate of herdsmen and farmers clashes with result in famine in the country if it's not controlled and bandits operation are targeted at more than 20 states in the country.
