89 men battered by their spouses between 2020-2021: Lagos State government

The Lagos State Government has said 89 men revealed that they were battered by their spouses in instances of aggressive behavior at home in 2020 and the main quarter of 2021.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Cecilia Bolaji Dada, spread the word about this on Tuesday, May 4, at a clerical news gathering to check the second year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in office, held in Ikeja, Lagos.

The chief said, in 2020, a sum of 46 men detailed at the service that their spouses abused them.

She added that in the primary quarter of 2021, 43 men revealed that their spouses battered them, making it an aggregate of 89 man battered under two years.

She said the figure caught just cases answered to WAPA and that a few cases had been accounted for straight forwardly to the Ministry of Justice and police headquarters which the service probably won't know about.

Dada further revealed that an aggregate of 664 ladies were battered by their spouses in Lagos in the previous year, as indicated by cases detailed at WAPA.

She said 378 ladies were mishandled by their spouses in 2020, while 286 ladies were battered by their husbands in the main quarter of 2021.
