AMBCN orders 30% increase in price of bread

The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria (AMBCN), in a statement released by its National President, Mansour Umar has ordered 30% increase in the price of bread biscuits and other items. The President of the association explained that the reason for a price increase is due to increase in the cost of production and also because of the rising prices of yeast, butter, sugar and flour.

He added that after the skyrocketed prices of baking ingredients and materials, that selling baked products at the normal price wasn't feasible and to keep the business going, a 30% increase had to be added.

The Association also called on the Federal Government to  step in and reverse the high tariff regime imposed by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC) and streamline regulations for only NAFDAC to regulate bakers. He also moaned about the incessant increase in the price of flour and added that a truck of flour which was bought at less than N5m is now N9m.
