Bandits abduct students in Niger State

Armed bandits abducted many children from an Islamic school in Tegina which is a densely populated area in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State on Sunday.

It was reported that the bandits first of all besieged the police station then made their way into the town and started shooting sporadically to scare away residents before moving into the Islamic school where they kidnapped school children who were attending Islamic lectures.

This school is a nursery and primary school but hosts Islamiyya students in the evenings and on the weekends. The school proprietor, Yakubu Idris said the gunmen went away with a lot of students including his younger sister. He also added that the number of the students that were abducted have not identified.

The Police spokesperson of the state, Wasiu Abiodun has refused to be drawn into making comments on the development of this issue at this time
