Bandits murder a journalist and kidnapped travellers in Katsina


Armed bandits murdered a journalist, Ibrahim Hamisu Dankabo, during an attack in Jibya Local Government of Katsina state. 

Gide Suleiman, who is a community leader in the area where the attack happened, said that Mr Dankabo, a camera man that's working in the Information Unit of Jibia Local Government, was shot dead on Monday, May 3, in Kukar-Babangida space of Jibia, when he reacted to a pain call from a female neighbor during the attack in the area. 

The criminals later went away with the mother of a traditional leader in Niger Republic.  

Different people said the criminals additionally kidnapped travellers on the Katsina-Jibia street, a large portion of whom are occupants of Magamar Jibia. 

"We are living in steady dread of attack and kidnapping and we can't walk through some significant streets. The security officials have encouraged inhabitants to stop using the  street from Zurmi in Zamfara to Jibia in Katsina since criminals are on the increase in the area," a resident of the area said.
