Boat capsizes in Kebbi state

A boat of about 150 passengers was said to have capsized in Tungan Mairakumi village of Burgo Local Government Area of the state. However, only 26 bodies have been recovered by Police in Niger state.

The incident was confirmed on Tuesday by the Police Commissioner in the state, Adamu Usman.

Usman stated only 26 bodies have been recovered and 98 bodies still missing and Marine Police/local fishermen were deployed for a search rescue.

"From investigations so far, it was gathered that the boat took off from Tungan Mairakumi village with 150 passengers on board on it's way to Wara market in Kebbi. "The boat was stated to have capsized in Na-llo village, 26 persons were rescued and rushed to Wara Local Government Hospital, 26 persons died and 98 persons are still missing", Usman said.
