EFCC reveals they discovered N1Billion from Civil Servant at Senate Meeting


 Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC) revealed that the agency have retrieved over a billion naira from the bank account of a civil servant. Bawa disclosed this information yesterday, thursday May 21, at the National Assembly when he appeared before the Senate committee on Finance when they were examining the Internally Generated Revenues (IGRs) of about 600 MDAs and checking if they were strictly adhering to the stipulated rules and regulations laid down by the government.

The EFCC boss also stated that as much as the country needed to generate revenue to finance different plans and projects, the country also needs to put more effort into plugging the holes in the system. He also went further to sya that the 1billion naira was retrieved last week but the name of civil servant was kept confidential. He also expressed his worry about the fact that various government agencies in the country have not been conducting auditing reports since their inception.
