Jose Mourinho becomes Roma Manager

AS Roma have designated previous Tottenham Hotspur chief Jose Mourinho as their new lead coach on a three-year contract beginning 2021-22 season, the Italian Serie A club declared on Tuesday.

The choice comes after the club declared Paulo Fonseca will leave his job toward the finish of the current mission.

"We are excited and charmed to invite Jose Mourinho into the AS Roma family," club president Dan Friedkin and VP Ryan Friedkin said.

"An incredible hero who has won prizes at each level, Jose will give huge initiative and experience to our goal-oriented venture."

Mourinho, who has recently trained Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United, was sacked by Tottenham a month ago following 17 months accountable for the London club.

"After gatherings with the possession and Tiago Pinto, I quickly comprehended the full degree of their desires for AS Roma," Mourinho said.

"It is the very aspiration and drive that has consistently spurred me and together we need to fabricate a triumphant venture throughout the forthcoming years.

"The unimaginable enthusiasm of the Roma fans persuaded me to acknowledge the work and I can't stand by to begin next season."
