Kidnapped Chief Superintendent of Customs, Mba Ukweni is released



Chief Superintendent of Customs, Mba Ukweni Edu was posted to Ikom in Cross River State, in preparation of his retirement after serving in Lagos. He was kidnapped along mid-sea in Etono/Ugben River, Cross River State. It was reported on Monday at 3pm, that he was released. Although, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of 100M for his release.

The family were able to raise part of the amount (which wasn't disclosed) for his release. The kidnappers also demanded 50 litres of fuel, 4 litres of engine oil and bottles of hot drinks including American Local Sting and Local gin.

Mba Ukweni stated his uncle was immediately rush to the hospital after his release and he is doing well, only that he went through a lot of trauma.
