kidnapped students of Greenfield University are released - Islamic Cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi

Greenfield University students were abducted by bandits recently and the bandits demanded for 100 million and 19 motorcycles for their release. Islamic Cleric Sheik Ahmad Gumi intercepted them for a negotiation, he addressed the parents of the recent students of Federal college Forestry mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna state that they are currently undergoing a negotiation and hope the release of Afaka students gives hope to others.

Gumi addressed the people that he and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo played the role of a mediator. The fight was between the bandits and government, thereby they attack government institutions and innocent children. The negotiation was successful despite the ups and down and all the students were released, none was killed, he said.

Stating their role in the release of the abducted forestry college students, he said:

"The role myself and former president Olusegun Obasanjo played in the release of the 27 Afaka is the role of mediators because the fight is not between us and them but between the bandits and the government. What we understand is that these people are trying to attack the government institutions and take innocent children.

Having understood that, we came to the conclusion that, this is not a hopeless situation and that we can really go in and negotiate for the release of these, which we did after so many ups and downs.

But in the long run, a conclusion was reached and these children are out. So, we are happy that all of them are out and none was killed."
