NBC suspends Ahmed Isah's license for 'recurring unprofessional conduct'

Host of Brekete Family Program on Human Rights Radio, Ahmed Isah had been seen slapping and abusive woman while interviewing her  after she reportedly set fire to her niece's head. He later apologized and stated that his 'zeal and passion' got the better of him.

However another video has surfaced of the human rights activist slapping another man in front of a crowd.

The National Broadcasting Commission NBC, however stated that they have met with Ahmed Isah an that he has apologized but that the action of the broadcaster is in clear violations of the Broadcast Code and a betrayal of the confidence the people and the government of Nigeria have put in him.

The NBC added that over the years, they have cautioned the Human Rights Radio over repeated cases of outright physical abuse and have conducted training programmes for the station and also for the host of Brekete Family but not much has changed.

As a result of this, the NBC have suspended the license of Ahmed Isah until he commits to ethical and professional broadcasting. The suspension will take place from May 31, 2021 and will be for 30 days after which the broadcaster will pay a recommencement fee to the commission.
