North Korea withdraws from World Cup competition

 

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released a statement today saying North Korea is out of the World Cup.  


They have also withdrawn from the Tokyo games earlier before their withdrawal from the World Cup due to the coronavirus pandemic. 


South Korea is supposed to host the matches remaining in the Group H of the second round of the tournament in June.  


Before their withdrawal from the competition, North Korea were in fourth position.


Turkmenistan currently lead the Group H, which also comprises of Lebanon and Sri Lanka.
