President Buhari suspends Hadiza Bala Usman

 President Buhari suspends Hadiza Bala Usman as the head of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). 


Her suspension was  followed after a suggestion by Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria's minister of transportation, to set up a regulatory board of request to set up a panel to investigate her management of the Nigeria Ports Authority.


''President Muhammadu Buhari has agreed to the suggestion of the Ministry of Transportation under Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for the setting up of an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to look into the Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA. 


The President has additionally approved the suspension of the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman until all investigations are being completed. The president also appointed Mr. Mohammed Koko as the acting Managing director.


The panel for the investigation is going to be headed by the Director, Maritime Services of the Ministry while the Deputy Director, Legal of maritime service will fill in as Secretary. 


Different members from the board will be selected by the Minister.''Shehu said.


Hadiza was first designated as the Nigeria Ports Authority managing director  in July 2016. In January, President Muhammadu Buhari reappointed her, for an extra five-year tenure.
