Umahi makes U-Turn on sit-at-home mandate

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has taken a U-Turn on the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, calling on residents of the state to stay indoors if they wished to, on Monday and that they will not be penalized.

Umah who discovered that it was the constitutional right of anyone to remain at home at anytime and it was their right to go out at anytime stressed that people could go about their business without anybody curtailing their movement.

The Governor revealed this in a statement relayed to the  people by his Special Adviser on Media, Francis Nwaze, which was made available to journalists in Abakaliki.

Umahi had threatened earlier on Saturday that any shop that has been locked up by the owner will be seized as a result of the sit-at-home directive ordered by IPOB.
