CBN threatens to punish offenders that mishandled currency notes

 


The Nigerian currency, often times has been devalued by it's citizens. Nigerians would always mutilate, deface, squeeze to the extent they spray and sell the naira notes.

The Central Bank of Nigerians frowned at the rate of such acts and forewarned that such offences will attract a penalty of nothing less than six months imprisonment or 50,000 fine or both.

CBN Assistant Director at Currency Operations Department, Aladeen Badajo gave a presentation in regards to currency notes on Thursday, during the commencement of the CBN two day sensitisation fair held in Abeokuta.

Badejo emphasized Nigerians should handle the currency notes with care in considering the fact the Naira currency is a symbol of National identity. Large resources had been spent for the printing of currency notes.
