EFCC carrys out a fraud risk assessment on government agencies

Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC stated they had begun the process of checking out fraud risk assessment on Federal Government Agencies, as one of the means to fight against Corruption in the country.

This was made known by the Executive Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa on Sunday. He also said, "the strategy steps taken would easily expose the agencies vulnerable to fraud.

"The idea behind the motive was to make known to Government the vulnerability of several agencies.

"They are already in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, as a collaborative effort to carry out the fraud risk assessment on all parastatals under the ministry.

"Fighting corruption is to cross-check the government system, looking at the loopholes and advising the government on what to do regarding that.

"Our study, however shows that without anyone receiving stolen goods, stealing will be prevented. That is why they sentence high punishment to those caught receiving stolen goods", Bawa said.

The EFCC commented that they also had their eyes on gatekeepers which were listed as tax consultants, car dealers, real estate managers, lawyers and accountants in money laundering.
