IPOB'S leader, Nnamdi Kanu faces prosecution


The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was arrested by the Interpol abroad and deported to Nigeria. Upon his return to Nigeria on Sunday, June 27, he was immediately apprehended by security agencies.

The allegations charged against Nnamdi Kanu were terrorism, treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and management of an unlawful society. He's due to face trial in Federal High Court, Abuja and will remain in the custody of the Department of state services, DSS till July 26, 2021.

Nnamdi Kanu was denied bail in consideration of his disappearance from the country after the Federal High Court granted him bail in 2017.

Kanu's prosecution and trial was announced by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami at a press conference held in Abuja on Tuesday, June 29.
