OPMAN, suspends the distribution of Onions to South East region

Northern Onions Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria, OPMAN decided to stop the supply distribution of onions to South East region as a result of the unrest in that region.

National President of OPMAN, Aliyu Isah made the announcement on Wednesday. He stated, on countless basis, traders were always attacked across the Southeast region, hence the need to suspend supplies until normalcy returns.

He claimed that two trucks loaded with the produce were recently hijacked by gunmen. It was suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB were responsible.

South East region, for the past three months have been saddled in security crisis as suspected members of IPOB and ESN were accused of killing security operatives and destruction of government properties. It was rumored IPOB had intercepted the truck load produce of Onions and distributed it to the public.

Nnamdi Kanu, President of IPOB stated they were not responsible for the reoccurring violence in the region.
