Dustin Poirier defeats Conor McGregor at UFC 264 while McGregor ends up with a broken leg


Two boxers, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor have been at loggerheads with each other for quite some time.

A boxing match was scheduled between Poirier and MC Gregor on Saturday night, after they had fought against themselves twice, around the time, a match at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was about to commence.

The match resulted in Poirier as the champion whereas Conor, ended up with a broken leg. Poirier won the match within a short time frame which was during the first round in UFC 264.

After the match ended, McGregor broken leg was inspected, in analysing the cause, UFC commentator, Joe Regan disclosed Poirier had said that his fracture was due to the check on his leg.

The disclosed statement provoked a reaction from McGregor who stated there was no check. The unending rivalry between Poirier and McGregor has been in existence for years, in the year 2014, McGregor defeated Poirier at UFC 178 with a first round KO. Poirier eventually turned the tables against McGregor in January 2021 at UFC 257 during the second round.

In concluding the event, UFC President Dana White announced McGregor will have to undergo a surgery but the next match will be fixed against Poirier and Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title.
