Fidelity Bank operations shut down in Kaduna state


Fidelity Bank branches across Kaduna state, has been shut down due to the debt incurred from failure to pay tax to the Kaduna state government.

The branches which are located within Ali Akilu road, Ahdamu Bello road, Polytechnic Road by Maimunu Gwarzo junction and Kachia road have been shut down.

The state's Legal Adviser and Board Secretary of the state's tax administration, Aisha Mohammed disclosed the announcement addressing the press in a conference.

Kaduna state's Government dragged the financial institution to court due to the bank's failure in paying up tax returns for the last nine years which have accumulated to N43.3 million, though they have their all within their means to communicate with Fidelity Bank but they gave no feedback.

The amended 1999 Constitution which states the law on tax payment could be found in Section 104 (3) and (4) of the personal income tax (Amendment) Act. 2011 and Section 37 (3) and (4) of the Kaduna State Tax Codification and Consolidation Law, 2020.
