House of Rep, approve second reading of five years imprisonment bill for unlawful protesters


Lawyers proposed a bill to be passed to sentence unlawful protesters to 5 years imprisonment.

The bill was brought before the House of Representatives on Thursday, July 1st, 2021. The bill was titled; An Act to amend the criminal code, ACT CAP 38, laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004 to further preserve the sanctity of human life and property, and to provide specifically for mob action, prescribe punishment and other Matters, is sponsored by Rep. Emeka Chinedu Martins, (PDP-Imo).

The House of Representatives finally approved the bill for a second reading.
