President Muhammadu Buhari will send forth the Olympics team - Sunday Dare


Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports  Development stated the Olympics team which will be representing Nigeria in Tokyo Olympics, Japan would be send forth by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, during the brief send off ceremony held on Tuesday to dispatch the first batch.

The Olympics team was divided into four batches, the forthcoming procedure has always a tradition in Nigeria towards every Olympics games.

The Minister said, "We’re keeping to the tradition of unveiling the team to the President, who will, in turn, hand them over to the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC).

“The unveiling of the official wear/equipment will also be done by Mr President. This is a very symbolic event meant to officially send forth the team to the Games.

“This should also inspire the athletes and reinforce the fact that the Federal Government and the entire country are behind them.”

In conclusion, he praised the president for the investment he made in the team to ensure a victorious win in the games.

The team comprises of 58 athletes and 22 coaches who will be competing in 9 sports in Tokyo Olympics.
