18-year-old Monsurat shot dead by police officers in Lagos state


Yet another young Nigerian's life has been cut short. Monsurat who recently clocked 18-year-old on August 11, was shot dead by some police officers who were parading and chasing some criminals within the Surelere axis in Lagos. 

The young lady who was seeking admission into the university was with her sister, they were closing their mother's shop and preparing to go home that faithful day. All of a sudden, they saw people running helter_skelter and they took to their heels as well.

The mother of the deceased was seen doing some laundry in their compound, was trying to close the gate when she saw the police and then the police officer pushed the gate open.

The mother and neighbours heard a gunshot, the bullet pierced through Monsurat's thighs and she was rushed to a private hospital, getting to the hospital, there was no doctor to attend to her. 

She was rushed to another hospital, Randle hospital in Surulere, where she was treated briefly and then they were asked to take her to Igbobi Hospital. Getting there, there was no doctor to attend cause, they were on strike.

Unfortunately, Monsurat died while on the way to another hospital. According to their neighbours, the mother of the deceased had reportedly fainted about 5times as she couldn't bear the loss of her child. 

The Lagos state Criminal Investigation Department(CID), has apologised for the Incident.

However, the officer who performed the action has been allegedly detained.
